About
GARETH EVANS
Where did it all start?…….Back in 1988, I ran my first marathon. Zero training, zero expectations, zero enjoyment.
But I got it done.
The beginning
1996 new york marathon
1996, my first New York Marathon, where I started to see the power of running and how it could make a positive impact not only on my life, but draw in those around me. The following the race generated over the years, swelling from 15,000 runners to over 45,000 presently.
As it became harder to get a race number, the event transformed into a global charity platform, and I ran for Breast Cancer ( Susan Komen ), Brain Cancer ( B*CURED ), wounded service men and women and first responders ( Challenged Athletes Foundation’s Operation Rebound ).
The Volcano Marathon, in the Atacama Desert of Chile? The Marathon Des Sables in the Sahara? The Comrades Marathon in South Africa. Keep them coming...

BEST BUDDIES
Support something that has been completed by less people than have climbed Mt. Everest. Follow my journey across the 7/7/7 and support 3 amazing, diversified charities that mean a lot to me:
– Best Buddies supports those who would otherwise not be able to stand out and advance and feel included in society
What will the 7/7/7 give me?
I will be one of fewer than 125 people who have run all 7 continents and both poles…… just saying
And to be able to help those less fortunate?
Whose daily lives endure more mental and physical pain than I will endure? There is no dollar amount that can come close to that. But hey, give it a try….
Do for others what you would want them to do for you if the roles were reversed.
We are all here just once. There is no do-over, and we don’t take it with us. So make a difference. Stand out.
